Twelve metres long and five metres high, the work of art was designed by Dario Cestaro, a Venetian artist and lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and Florence: a floral theme on a bright blue background, vibrant colours symbolising the strength of Giulia Cecchettin’s legacy after the tragedy that took her life, a very strong visual impact together with the phrase:IN THIS PLACE WE EDUCATE PEOPLE TO RESPECT AND REJECT ALL VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN. EVERY DAY “and then: “DEDICATED TO GIULIA CECCHETTIN AND TO ALL WOMEN OF THE WORLD.”
In front of more than a hundred people, mostly girls and young women who had just taken part in water to the 29th synchronised swimming Memorial in remembrance of Elisa and Veronica, were present the President of the City Council Ermelinda Damiano, the Director of the Anti-Violence Centre Patrizia Marcuzzo the Secretary General of the Efesto Foundation Matteo Gobbo Trioli, the President of the Associazione Il prossimo Edoardo Rivola, the Parish Priest of Carpenedo Don Gianni Antoniazzi, the Director of CMB-Centro Marca Banca Marco Michieletto and the President of Polisportiva Terraglio and the Efesto Foundation Davide Giorgi. All speeches emphasised about the importance of the role of sports clubs have in empowering the younger generations with respect to the culture of gender and rejection of all forms of violence against women, in a strategic alliance which must also bring together families, schools and institutions. The unveiling of the great work of art – in reality only the first tangible manifestation of an educational project shared with the Anti-Violence Centre destined to start in 2025 with the involvement of coaches, instructors, managers and athletes of President Giorgi’s club – was preceded by the reading of two very significant texts by actresses Maria Biolo Marsale and Chiara Rigo, both from Fondazione Efesto, then Don Gianni’s blessing and finally the big group photo that closed in a joyful atmosphere a morning that will remain in the history of more than 40 years of Polisportiva Terraglio and the first year of life of Fondazione Efesto.
